Planning my magazine

After looking into other student magazines, i am now going to create my own version. I have researched the connotations of front covers of typical models, which has given me a rough idea of what ideas i need to add into mine.

The colour scheme for my magazine will be bright, eye catching colours which will appeal to both sexes. This is shown to the right. The setting for my mid close up shot will be outside with trees in the background which would connote a 'green' eco friendly college.

The connotations i want to produce in my magazine, are a sans serif font to create a sense of informality and 'laid back' atmosphere.

Target Audience

The target audience i will be trying to reach within my magazine will be C1 and B class university and college, media and photography students.

Both male and female radicals and achievers with social values of Hedonists.

You own more clothes than one person would ever need.
You buy every new piece of technology as soon as it comes out on the market.

Denotation and Connotation of student magazines

The collage effect of this magazine connotes a hectic, sporadic student type life style. This is also shown in the style of a notice board.
The usage of sans serif font shows informality and gives impression of a relaxed invironment.
The use of many colours shows there is always something different going on and connotes a busy scheduled college day.

Usage of hot pink font and writing, connotes femininity which suggests the target audience for this magazine would mainly be females at a college and uniersity age.
The carosel in the backgroud gives the impression of a fun, excitable college. e.g not a completly serious working environment. The hot pink writing and the 'paint the town red' tag line, contradict and clash against eachother, showing the level of connotation is contradictary.
This is my media studies coursie work blog for AS level.
